Maddie

This little miss is our sassy baby of the family. This week she had appointments with endocrinology, opthamology, and her pre-surgery check. The results of her sleep study showed obstructive sleep apnea, so she is scheduled for surgery to remove her tonsils and adenoids in a few weeks. I am honestly anxious to get it over and done with! All these appointments has meant a special lunch date for just Maddie and mommy.

World Down Syndrome Day!

We are incredibly blessed to have six individuals with an extra chromosome as part of our family! I remember being so scared when we committed to adopt our son Ivan. What would it mean for our family? How would it impact the children we already had? What would it be like to parent a child with Trisomy 21?
Ivan was (and is) such a blessing, he inspired us to adopt five more kids with DS! No, they aren't angels, they aren't always happy, and they aren't perfect (none of us are!)!  They each have unique personalities, individual strengths, and their own challenges, but we can't imagine our family without any of them!

I have to add that we will also be cheering earnestly for our favorite team! Let's go Villanova basketball!

Happy Birthday Madeline!

Maddie is 9! She came home 2 years ago, and is such a blessing to our family. We don't know what we would do without our sassy little Bulgarian princess!

Surviving Winter

To say we are anxious for spring's arrival would be an understatement! We have had our fill of snow, ice, and cold! Hot chocolate, popcorn, and movies are fun, but we are ready for sunshine and warmth!

In an effort to streamline things and make the schedule more manageable, I am always looking at ways to improve things. I decided to try ordering groceries online and then picking them up each week. It's actually been working wonderfully! I can order at night in my pj's and then go to the store at my scheduled time to pick up. Right now, it's well worth my time to pay the small fee to have them shop for me!

Six Months Home

We had Yul's six month post placement visit with his Social Worker. I had to print out pictures, so I enlarged a couple to frame. I put this picture on the shelf in our foyer. Yul spotted it and shrieked happily. He excitedly pointed at the picture saying, "Mama! Yul! Mama! Yul!". He loves anything that confirms his permanent place in our family.

He just loves being a part of a family. He knows he belongs and that he is cherished and loved. Doesn't EVERY child deserve that?

Two Years Home

We just had Maddie's final post placement visit with her Social Worker.  It's hard to believe it's the two year anniversary of her homecoming. We can't remember our family without this sassy little love bug!
